Megan Haughey was named Director of Athletics at Rutgers University–Newark in July 2026 after serving as Deputy Director of Athletics, Senior Woman Administrator, and head women's basketball coach at Stevens Institute of Technology.
Haughey brings more than a decade of leadership experience in collegiate athletics, overseeing NCAA compliance, strategic planning, student-athlete development, and sport administration. At Stevens, she supervised more than 50 staff members, directed NCAA compliance for 26 varsity teams, and oversaw several varsity programs while serving on the department's executive leadership team. She also led strategic planning initiatives, chaired Title IX equity reviews, and partnered with admissions to strengthen recruitment and enrollment strategies.
As head women's basketball coach from 2012-26, Haughey compiled a 232-122 overall record, becoming the winningest coach in program history. Her teams earned multiple conference championships and received Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 recognition on several occasions.
Committed to student-athlete development, Haughey founded the Top of the V Leadership Academy to promote leadership and professional growth among student-athletes. She also founded Hunterdon Hoops, a youth basketball organization focused on player development and community engagement.
Haughey earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Lafayette College and a Master of Social Work with a concentration in nonprofit management from Rutgers University. She also holds a certificate in diversity, equity, and inclusion from Cornell University.
