Megan Knott

Knott joined the Scarlet Raiders staff in June of 2016 and presided over a strong campaign in her first year at the helm. R-N reached the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament for the first time since 2006 while posting a 15-14 record overall. The Scarlet Raiders produced the second-longest winning streak in program history when they went on a five match tear between September 29 and October 6. Her team also made the Eastern College Athletic Conference semifinals for the second time in three seasons, featuring two NJAC all-conference honorees.

The 2019 season saw Knott build off of the success she had the previous season as she once again posted a 17 win campaign and made both the NJAC Postseason Tournament and the ECAC Tournament. Under her leadership, Comfort Akinbo was named a First Team All-NJAC after a record-setting year.

"We are extremely excited to have Megan at Rutgers-Newark and think she is going to do excellent things with our women's volleyball program," said Director of Athletics Mark Griffin. "Megan has a wealth of experience both as a coach and a high-level collegiate player and she knows the area, so we feel she is the right person for the job."

A West Caldwell, N.J. native, Knott is a currently a teacher at Millington Elementary School in Long Hill Township, also spending time at Sharon Elementary, Indian Field Elementary, Brooks Crossing Elementary and Millstone Elementary.

In terms of coaching, Knott built the Notre Dame High School program from the ground up, leading the first-ever girls volleyball team in 2014 and steadily improving the squad in each of her first two campaigns as a head coach.

Knott graduated from Rider University in May of 2015. She received a scholarship to play for the Broncs, becoming a team leader as a veteran and earning All-Academic honors from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

"I am honored for the opportunity and would like to thank Mark (Griffin) for the chance to lead the Rutgers-Newark women's volleyball program," said Knott. "I have high expectations for our team both on the court and in the classroom, and I am excited to compete in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC)."

Knott played in 109 matches (307 sets) in her career, totaling 422 kills, 265 digs and 88 blocks. Her teams combined to win 25 matches during her junior and senior seasons, and Rider reached and won a pair of matches in the MAAC Tournament in 2010.
