NEWARK, NJ – Junior middle blocker Brady Weissbourd hit .588 with 11 kills and got in on eight of Harvard's 16 team blocks to lead the Crimson to a 3-0 EIVA Hay win over Rutgers-Newark on the opening night of The Golden Dome Classic. Game scores were 30-28, 30-20, 30-23.

Harvard (4-2, EIVA Hay 3-1) hit .488 as a team behind the crisp setting of sophomore Gil Weintraub who notched 37 assists while making seven digs and getting in on six blocks. The Crimson also got 11 kills from sophomore outside hitter Erik Kuld and 10 from senior opposite Jamie Crooks as they completed a sweep of the Scarlet Raiders in league play for the season.

Rutgers-Newark got a team-high nine kills from junior Derek Wolfe who hit a solid .428. But sophomore more outside hitter Nate Stott was limited to a season-low five fills by a defense geared at blocking the Raiders' top offensive threat. Sophomore middle hitter Kenneth Stumbaugh and freshman right side Nick Johnson tallied seven kills apiece for Rutgers-Newark (3-8, EIVA Hay 2-2).
In the opening match, sophomores Noel Garcia and Osvaldo Perez had 13 kills apiece as Mt. Olive swept past East Stroudsburg, 3-0 (30-190, 30-27, 30-25). Senior setter Zach Wilson registered 40 assists as the Trojans (7-4) hit .290 and junior libero Pedro Penate came up with a match-high 10 digs.
Sophomore opposite Chris Holden paced the Warriors (1-4) with a dozen kills while hitting .364, but ESU hit just .163 overall. Juniors Jesse Landis and Kyle Duffy added eight and seven kills, respectively.
With freshman middle hitter Brian Geslak getting in on six blocks, the Warriors dominated the net, out-blocking Mt. Olive, 11.5-3.0.
Mt. Olive takes on Harvard at 4 p.m. tomorrow before Rutgers-Newark battles East Stroudsburg in the 7 o'clock finale.
