NEW YORK – Rutgers-Newark handed short-handed Brooklyn College its first defeat of the season, 8-1, to improve to 2-1.

Seniors Matt Milwicz and Baris Sonmez and freshman Priyen Patel posted singles wins against a Bridges squad which forfeited two singles and one doubles flight. Patel battled to a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 win over Brooklyn's Arvid Badhey on the third flight.
In doubles Milwicz and sophomore Lam Nguyen took an 8-2 win on the top flight and Sonmez and sophomore Brian Barbera notched an 8-4 victory on the No. 2 court for Rutgers-Newark.
Brooklyn fell to 3-1 on the season while the Raiders won their second straight match.
Rutgers-Newark will host Philadelphia Biblical on Thursday at 5 p.m. on The Golden Dome Courts.
