Rowan Sweeps Scarlet Raiders In NJAC Play

GLASSBORO, NJ – Rutgers-Newark freshman middle blocker Rachel Witt totaled nine points and sophomore outside hitter Toni Moppert added seven kills, but Rowan scored a 3-0 New Jersey Athletic Conference women's volleyball victory in Esby Gym.

Witt had five kills, three service aces, a solo block and 10 digs for the Scarlet Raiders (1-25, NJAC 1-6) while Moppert posted seven digs and an assisted block. 

The Profs (11-15, NJAC 3-4) eliminated Rutgers-Newark from NJAC Championship tournament contention with the 25-15, 25-12, 25-17 sweep.

Junior setter Gabi Mangieri collected 15 assists and delivered a pair of aces for the Raiders who also got three aces and two kills from freshman middle blocker Stephanie Touzan

Senior libero Val Dauti recorded a match-high 11 digs while juniors Crystal Navarro and Na-Keta Michael each added two kills. 

Rowan was paced by 6-time NJAC Rookie of the Week Katie Havlicek who hit a scorching .476 with 11 kills and just one error on 21 swings. 

Rutgers-Newark travels to Jamaica, Queens, on Friday to take on City Tech at 5 p.m. and York College at 7 o'clock in a non-conference doubleheader.
