NEWARK, NJ – Farmingdale State downed conference rival Old Westbury, 2-1, in the opening round of the ECAC Metro D-III Men's Soccer Championship and will face host Rutgers-Newark in the second match of Saturday's semifinal round on Alumni Field.

The No. 5 Rams (9-8-1) battle the top-seeded Scarlet Raiders (13-5-4) in the 7 p.m. nightcap after third-seeded Richard Stockton (12-8-1) plays second-seeded Drew (9-5-5) in the 4 o'clock opener on the Rutgers-Newark campus. 

The championship match will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday on Alumni Field.

The Raiders downed Farmingdale State, 4-0, in early September in Newark.

Rutgers-Newark finished 10th in the final regular season NSCAA South Atlantic Poll released on Tuesday – the highest regional finish in program history.
