NEW PALTZ, NY – Rutgers-Newark freshman outside hitter Rachel Witt totaled 10 kills, but the Scarlet Raiders fell to host New Paltz and Johns Hopkins in the Hawk Invitational. Set scores were 25-7, 25-10, 25-8 against New Paltz and 25-7, 25-9, 25-9 versus Johns Hopkins.

Witt also added six digs and two assisted blocks for the Raiders (0-16) who also got six kills and 17 digs from sophomore outside hitter Toni Moppert.

Witt notched six kills with an ace, three digs and an assisted block against Johns Hopkins while senior libero Val Dauti made nine digs. Freshman outside hitter Brianne Swanda collected seven digs and junior setter Gabi Mangieri tallied 13 assists and six digs.

Against New Paltz, Witt had four kills and an assisted block while Moppert added three kills, nine digs and an assisted block.

The Raiders face New Jersey Athletic Conference opponent Rutgers-Camden Tuesday at 7 p.m. in The Golden Dome Rec Gym. The Golden Dome Arena is closed for installation of a new wooden floor.
