NEWARK, NJ – Freshman Rebecca Schafer was the top Rutgers-Newark finisher as the Scarlet Raiders finished 16th in the Highlander Invitational in Branch Brook Park.

Shafer posted a time of 25:36 on the 5-kilometer course to finish 89th in a field of 125 runners. Classmate Kyla Grodzka was second on the squad in a clocking of 33:02. Rookie Sheana Foster ran a 35:37 with Kimberly Cintron finishing in 37:07.

Sophomore Krissy Arias rounded out the Raider scoring in a time of 37:35 while sophomore Megan Massey finished in a time of 42:35.

The Rutgers-Newark men and women will compete in the CTC Championships on Saturday at Gloucester County College in Sewell.
