OLD WESTBURY, NY – Rutgers-Newark fell to Old Westbury on an early lone goal as the Panthers shut down the Scarlet Raider attack.

Junior goalkeeper Kat Renteria made five stops, including four in the second half, to keep the Raiders (4-7-3) close, but junior Chynna Pitlock needed just two first-half saves to notch her fifth shutout of the season for Old Westbury (8-5-0). 

Junior midfielder Liana Abreu and freshman forward Vanessa Rivera put shots on goal in the first 38 minutes, but the Panthers piled up a 14-9 edge in shots despite Rutgers-Newark ruling corner kicks, 7-1. 

Freshman midfielder Kelsey Durkot netted the match's only tally at 18:25 as the Raiders suffered their third shutout in their last four outings. 

Rutgers-Newark hosts New Jersey City in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match at 7 p.m. Wednesday on Alumni Field.
