Naranjo's Late Goals Lift Scarlet Raiders Over FDU-Florham

RUTGERS-NEWARK MEN'S SOCCER

Daniel Naranjo
MADISON, NJ – Sophomore forward Daniel Naranjo tallied a pair of second-half goals three minutes apart to lift Rutgers-Newark to a 2-1 win over FDU-Florham on Shields Field.

BOX SCORE

Naranjo netted his team-leading fifth and sixth goals of the year with 17:04 and 15:05 left to stun the Devils (5-7) and rally the Scarlet Raiders (9-4-0).  After leveling the score with an unassisted goal, he ripped his third game-winning goal of the year on a penalty kick.  He's two for two on penalty kicks this season.

In the tight battle, junior goalkeeper Jonathan Frances came up with six saves to FDU-Florham's Steven Domino's five to spell the difference.  Each team put seven shots on goal with the Devils holding a slim 13-11 edge in shots.

Naranjo and freshman forward Patryck Dawidczykeach put a pair of shots on goal for the Raiders.

Rutgers-Newark travels to Virginia to take on Christopher Newport at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
