MEDFORD, NY – Rutgers-Newark controlled play with a strong midfield and solid defense in a 3-0 win over St. Joseph's LI at the Medford Athletic Complex.

Jonathan Frances needed just four saves to register his fourth shutout of the season as the Scarlet Raiders (5-1) throttled the Golden Eagle attack. St. Joseph's (1-4) was outshot, 14-8, while each team took a pair of corner kicks.

Daniel Naranjo scored the game-winning goal in the 15th minute before junior midfielder
Nick Kyprianou drill in a shot from outside the 30 just 92 seconds later to stun St. Joseph's and goalkeeper Michael Pitts.

Brian Barrera put away a cross from Naranjo in the 51st minute for the only tally of the second period.
The Raiders used a balanced attack with eight players taking shots during the evening.
