NEWARK, NJ – Drew used depth and control of the midfield to down Rutgers-Newark, 4-1, in a non-conference match on Alumni Field.

Drew (4-5-1) got two goals and an assist from freshman midfielder Emma Campbell who put away the first two markers 47 seconds apart early the contest. She beat a defender on the dribble and fired in the opening goal just 5:20 into the contest. Seconds later she got to a loose pass just ahead of diving freshman goalkeeper
Kelsey Benoit and rolled an insurance goal inside the left post.
Benoit finished with four saves while Ranger senior goalkeeper Kim Jaikissoon needed just one save in the opening half to get the win. Junior Agata Dera played the second half for Drew, making three saves against the one goal allowed.
The Rangers led 3-0 at the half after freshman midfielder Mel Santos put away a long lob pass into the left side of the box by senior forward Courtney Carnevale in the 34th minute. Campbell dribbled into the middle and sent a crossing pass to set up a goal by junior midfielder Katie O'Keefe in the 57th minute.
Drew out-shot the Raiders, 9-2, in the opening half to finish with a 14-8 advantage in the category. The Rangers controlled corner kicks, 8-4.
The Raiders suffered their fifth straight loss while Drew snapped a 4-match non-winning skid.
Rutgers-Newark travels to FDU-Florham on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. non-conference test.
