GALLOWAY, NJ – Rutgers-Newark ended its season with a 5-0 loss to playoff-bound Richard Stockton in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match in G. Larry James Stadium.

BOX SCORE & PLAY-BY-PLAY

Sophomore goalkeeper Victoria Nunez made four saves, but a 21-4 deficit in shots proved to be the difference as the Scarlet Raiders finished the campaign with a record of 4-15-1 overall and 1-7-1 in the NJAC.  The Ospreys, who will host William Paterson in the opening round of the league championship tournament on Saturday, improved to 15-3-2 overall and 6-2-1 in the NJAC.

Freshman midfielder Mercedes Lois put a shot on goal for the Raiders in the opening half to force winning goalkeeper Sarah Hinkle to make a save on a night when all four Rutgers-Newark shots were true.

In the second half, Raider junior midfielders Renae McEvoy and Kathy Jironza and rookie forward Cristina Estremera fired on-target tries to make reserve goalkeeper Brittney Boyle to make three stops.

Five Ospreys netted goals as Stockton used 26 players.  Kiera Hines had a pair of assists for the home team.

Rutgers-Newark, which played the final seven matches of the season without starting freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Benoit, returns everyone except 4-year starter Margeaux Hedley in 2013.
