CAMDEN, NJ – Rutgers-Newark put eight of its 12 shots on goal, but Rutgers-Camden stopped them all for a 3-0 New Jersey Athletic Conference win in the Rutgers-Camden Community Park.
The Scarlet Raiders (3-4-1, NJAC 0-1-0) battled evenly with the Scarlet Raptors (4-3-1, NJAC 1-0-0) until a goal in the final minute of the opening half gave Rutgers-Camden a 2-0 edge. It was the third consecutive 3-0 loss for Rutgers-Newark.

Diana Aviles kept the Scarlet Raiders close by making 10 saves as the Raptors had a 16-13 edge in shots and an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks. But senior Laura West made six saves during the opening 60 minutes before classmate Leighanna Milby stopped two shots to blank the visitors in the conference opener for each squad.
For the third straight match, the Raiders had good chances but no luck in finding the goal. Senior forward
Renae McEvoy put a shot on goal just 26 seconds into the match and fired a shot off the crossbar just 3:50 into the contest. Sophomore midfielder Christina Estremera put two of her three shots on goal.

Junior midfielder Lindsay Russo netted an unassisted goal in the 22nd minute for what proved to be the game winner.
Senior forward Camille Graham put away a cross from the left side by junior midfielder Lacey Stackhouse off of a through pass from the middle by junior defender Michelle Barbone with just 55 seconds left in the opening period.
In the 52nd minute, freshman forward Mandi Noll capped the scoring with an unassisted goal.
Rutgers-Newark hosts Kean University in an NJAC match on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. on Alumni Field.
