Sharee Gordon paced Rutgers-Newark with eight kills, but Rowan stopped the Scarlet Raiders, 3-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match in Esby Gym. Games scores were 25-14, 25-8, 25-20.
Gordon hit .316 with just two errors in 19 attacks while freshman outside hitter
Veronica Chau added six kills and five digs, but the Raiders (4-4, NJAC 0-2) lost their second straight league contest while the Profs (6-5, NJAC 1-1) snapped a two-match losing streak.

Sophomore outside hitter Danielle Havlicek put down a match-high 12 kills for Rowan while senior middle hitter Dakota Oeskovic added 10 kills and got in on two of the Profs' four blocks. Freshman setter Rebecca Dantonio distributed 39 assists as Rowan hit .367 (49 kills, nine errors, 109 attacks).
Rowan powered its way to a 2-0 start by hitting over .400 in each of the first two sets. Oeskovic, who played in just the first two frames, led the way with Havlicek adding eight kills.
The Raiders reeled off five straight points on two kills by Gordon, a kill by Davis, Pagnotta's ace and a block by Gordon and Davis to take a 17-14 lead in the third game. A kill by Davis leveled the score at 19-19 before back-to back kills by senior middle hitter Elaina Hansen and freshman outside hitter Morgan Mende gave the Profs the lead for good. After a kill by Maglione sliced the Raider deficit to one, a Rutgers-Newark service error was followed by consecutive service aces by freshman defensive specialist Jennifer Vorel to set up the match-ending kill by rookie outside hitter Erica O'Hagan.
Rutgers-Newark hosts Kean University in an NJAC match on Thursday night at 7 in The Golden Dome.
