NEWARK, N.J. (October 13, 2015)
– The Rutgers University-Newark women's soccer team will visit conference rival William Paterson University Wednesday in a key New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) showdown at 4 p.m.

Live Stats

Rutgers-Newark is coming off a 1-1 draw against NJAC foe Stockton University Saturday night at Alumni Field, moving the team's record to 2-2-1 in the conference and 11-3-1 overall.  William Paterson is currently 1-3-1 in the NJAC and 3-7-2 overall after dropping its last two matches. The Scarlet Raiders are tied for fifth in the NJAC, deadlocked with Ramapo, while Paterson is in seventh, three points behind the Raiders. The top-six finishers qualify for the playoffs and a win would go a long way in securing a postseason berth for either team.

NJAC Standings

Individually, Raider senior Sara Corson is second in the nation and first in the conference with seven game-winning goals, and she is seventh nationally and first in the NJAC in total goals scored with 17. Corson's 36 points are first in the conference and eighth overall.

Sophomore goalkeeper Diana Carvalho – who has 11 wins – is fourth in all of DIII in keeper minutes played at 1359:57. Classmate Nicole Gomez finds herself 29th in total assists with seven, while Corson cracks the top-50 in points per game (No. 33; 2.40) and goals per game (No. 26; 1.13).

Team-wise, Rutgers-Newark ranks 43rd nationally in goals with 36 and 46th in total points with 96. Both marks are good for second in the NJAC, while the team's 24 total assists are third in the conference and 57th overall.

R-N defeated William Paterson 3-2 on Alumni Field in 2014 but was shutout at Paterson back in October of 2013 during the squad's last visit to Wayne.
