DANBURY, Conn. (November 9, 2015) – The Rutgers University-Newark women's soccer team is the third seed in the upcoming Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro/Upstate Tournament.
The Scarlet Raiders (13-8-1 overall) will tangle with New Jersey Athletic Conference foe and sixth-seeded Ramapo College in the opening round in Newark Wednesday night at 5 p.m. The Roadrunners and Scarlet Raiders met in Mahwah earlier this season with Rutgers-Newark earning a strong 3-0 shutout victory. Sara Corson poured in three goals as the Scarlet Raiders picked up their first conference victory of the season. Ramapo will bring a record of 9-6-1 into Alumni Field Wednesday night.
In other opening round matchups, top-seeded New York University (12-5-1) will host eighth-seeded Lehman College (13-3-1), No. 2 Kean University (10-7-1) will battle No. 7 Bard College (8-8-1) and fourth-seeded Stockton University (12-3-7) will host Mount Saint Mary College (14-7-2).
The four advancing teams will head to the tournament semifinals which will be held Saturday at the highest seed able to host the 'Final Four'. The tournament title game will be on Sunday.

Rutgers-Newark earned a berth into last year's tournament, winning two matches to play in the title game. The postseason victories were the first in the history of the Scarlet Raider women's soccer program.
The 2015 season saw the Scarlet Raiders reach the NJAC Tournament for the second time, and in that second trip R-N earned its first-ever victory in the conference tournament, upsetting nationally-ranked Montclair State University, 1-0 in the first round.
Over the last two seasons, Rutgers-Newark has gone 3-3-0 in postseason games, going 2-1-0 in ECAC Tournament matches and 1-2-0 in conference tournament action. This will be the programs third berth in ECAC play.
The winner of Wednesday night's match will advance to face the winner of the Kean-Bard match on Saturday. The other semifinal will be between the 1/8 and 4/5 winners.
