NEWARK, N.J. (September 30, 2015) – The Rutgers University-Newark women's soccer team finds itself among national and New Jersey Athletic Conference leaders according to the latest statistical rankings released by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
As a team, Rutgers-Newark is just outside the top-50 (No. 53) in total goals with 24, ranking second in the NJAC. The team's 62 points is 66th in the nation and fourth in the conference.
Individually, senior
Sara Corson is among the national leaders in a variety of metrics – most notably second in the country (first in the conference) with five game-winning goals. Similarly, sophomore goalkeeper
Diana Carvalho leads the NJAC and is No. 2 in the nation in minutes with 999:50.
Corson's 11 total goals leads the NJAC and is No. 11 nationally, while her 23 points is 22nd overall and tops in the conference. She also cracks the top-50 in goals per game (No. 45; 1.00).
Rutgers-Newark (8-3-0 overall, 0-2-0 NJAC) returns to action Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. when the Scarlet Raiders visit Ramapo College looking for their NJAC victory. R-N defeated the Roadrunners 3-2 on Alumni Field on October 1, 2014 in the last meeting between the two rivals.
