NEWARK, N.J. (September 16, 2016) – The Rutgers University-Newark men's and women's soccer programs will host the annual Soccer Fest celebration Monday night on the Alumni Field turf.
The Scarlet Raider women will kick things off with a 5 p.m. showdown against Christopher Newport University, and the men will follow against John Jay College at 8 p.m.
All fans attendance will receive free commemorative t-shirts, and there will be free pizza in-between games at approximately 7:45 p.m.
Both the t's and pizza will be available while supplies last.
"Soccer Fest is a great way to kick off our athletic seasons and enjoy the great September weather," said Director of Athletics
Mark Griffin. "In addition to the pizza and t-shirts, we will be giving away our annual calendars to promote all of our home contests throughout the year. It should be a great event."
Both the Rutgers-Newark men and women open New Jersey Athletic Conference play this weekend against Rutgers University-Camden. The ladies host Camden on the Alumni Field turf Saturday at 11 a.m., and the men head south to play the Scarlet Raptors on the road at 1 p.m.
