Puerto Rico Relief Effort Planned for Mon. Night Women’s Soccer

NEWARK, N.J. (October 1, 2017) – The Rutgers University-Newark women's soccer team will be promoting hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico Monday night when the Scarlet Raiders welcome cross-river rival New York University to town for a non-conference matchup at 7:30 p.m.
 
Rutgers-Newark as a university is running a 'Helping Rebuild Puerto Rico' drive, and the Scarlet Raiders decided to join that cause for their game Monday night against the Violets of NYU.
 
In addition to donating all of its gate receipts from the game, the Scarlet Raiders are asking fans of both teams to bring non-perishable foods, water, toiletries, medical supplies and cleaning supplies to give upon entrance to the game.
 
For fans unable to make the game, locations to donate can be found all over the Rutgers-Newark campus; Woodward, Talbott, University Square, 15 Washington, the Main Housing Office, 180 W. Market St., 200 University Ave. and 5 Bruce St.

Rutgers-Newark women's soccer is currently 8-4-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Monday marks the beginning of a three-game homestand for the Scarlet Raiders. The ladies will host NYU Monday night, CCNY Wednesday night and conference rival Stockton University Saturday afternoon.
