The Scarlet Raiders have opened the season strong after a run to the 'Elite Eight' of the NCAA Tournament in 2016. The squad is 3-0-0, ranked eighth nationally and R-N has outscored the opposition 12-0 in three matches.

A trio of goalkeepers combined on the team's third-straight shutout Wednesday night in a 7-0 blanking of CCNY in Newark, and the team has ripped off 15-straight regular-season triumphs dating back to September 17, 2016.

Sophomore Fabio De Sousa has notched a team-high seven points after a pair of markers on Wednesday, while senior Isaiah Kuris and senior Hubert Dul each have five points. Four players scored goals Wednesday, including a pair of rookies who found the back of the net for the first time in their careers – Ariel Parada and Mohammed Huzien.

The last time the Rutgers-Newark men hosted the Brick City Classic was early in the 2015 season. In that edition, the Scarlet Raiders picked up victories over New York University and Johns Hopkins University to win the tournament, topping the Blue Jays in a thrilling overtime match to seal the title.

Three Quick Kicks:
-A balanced team, Rutgers-Newark has seven players with goals and 10 players with at least one point.
-Led by veteran backs Arek Szoldrowski and Brandon Goldy, Rutgers-Newark has allowed just 15 total shots this season while taking 85 of its own.
-R-N has out-cornered its foes 33-7 in 2017.

Fans should follow @ScarletRaiders and @RUN_Soc for the latest on men's soccer all season long.
