NEWARK, N.J. (November 18, 2018) – The Rutgers University-Newark men's soccer team closed out its 2018 campaign tonight, coming up short in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship match against Drew University on Frederick Douglass Field, 5-1.
The Scarlet Raiders finish up this fall with a 12-9-1 mark while the Rangers end at 15-6-0.
Following an impressive run over the last two weekends with victories over Maritime College (5-0), Manahttanville College (4-2), and New Jersey Athletic Conference rival William Paterson University (4-3), Rutgers-Newark struggled against an overpowering attack from the Rangers.
Drew got the scoring started in the 17
th minute and would not let up until they had all but put the game away in the 39
th.
Nate Race, ECAC Tournament MVP, struck at 16:04 off a feed from Max Correa and would notch a hat trick over the next 12 minutes.
Aidan Cserhat quickly doubled his side's lead about 90 seconds later while two more strikes by Race had the Rangers ahead 4-0.
Matt Asante tacked on a fifth at 38:50 off a ball from Niko Cserhat as Drew went into the break with a previously unimaginable 5-0 advantage.

Adonis Scotland curled a ball from the left wing into the box. Classmate
Ariel Parada was there to meet it with a strong header to pull one back for the home side.
