Scarlet Raider Women’s Soccer Announces ’18 Slate

NEWARK, N.J. (July 24, 2018)
– The Rutgers University-Newark women's soccer team officially announced its 2018 schedule on Tuesday morning. The Scarlet Raiders are coming off a trip to the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament Championship in 2017, the third time in the last four seasons the program has appeared in the postseason.
 
Key Home Dates:
Wednesday, September 5 – 7:30 p.m. – Old Westbury (Home Opener, Soccer Fest)
Saturday, September 15 – 7:30 p.m. – TCNJ (NJAC Home Opener)
Wednesday, September 26 – 7:30 p.m. – Ramapo (NJAC)
Saturday, October 6 – 7:30 p.m. – Rutgers-Camden (NJAC)
Wednesday, October 24 – 7:30 p.m. – NJCU (Senior Night, NJAC)
 
The 2018 edition of Rutgers-Newark will hit the pitch twice on opening weekend, visiting Lehman College on August 31 and SUNY Cortland on September 2.
 
The squad returns home for a trio of non-conference matches on the newly minted Frederick Douglass Field September 5, 8 and 9 before traveling to Riverdale, N.Y. for a road fixture at the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
 
Newark will open its NJAC slate against national power The College of New Jersey on Saturday, September 15 on FDF, and two days later the Raiders will welcome non-league rival Brooklyn College to town.
 
A trip South to Salisbury University is next, with the team returning to conference play at Stockton University on September 22. R-N will host NJAC foe Ramapo College on Wednesday, September 26 before road games at Montclair State University (NJAC) and New York University (non-league).
 
Rutgers will host two familiar foes in Rutgers University-Camden and William Paterson University in what will surely be pivotal conference contests in the Brick City October 6 and 10, and the ladies will take to the road for NJAC matches at Rowan University (October 13) and Kean University (October 20). Sandwiched between the two league road trips Newark will visit Drew University for a non-conference showdown on Tuesday, October 16 in Madison, N.J.
 
Senior Night will be Wednesday, October 24 on Frederick Douglass Field when the Scarlet Raiders host NJAC rival New Jersey City University, and the top-six teams in the league table will compete in the NJAC Tournament Championship slated to begin Saturday, October 27.
 
Admission to Frederick Douglass Field and all Scarlet Raider home soccer matches is FREE for students, faculty and staff with a valid Rutgers-Newark ID. All home games will also be streaming live at www.rutgersnewarkathletics.com/watch.
