Christian Andrach of the Rutgers University-Newark men's soccer team was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon by the league office.
Andrach helped the Scarlet Raiders to a 2-0-1 week as R-N improved to 2-2-1 overall.
The Elmwood Park native was in goal for the entirety of the team's 1-0-1 performance in the TCNJ Tournament, not allowing a single goal against in 200 minutes of action. The Scarlet Raider freshman made 12 saves – six in each match – and has an individual scoreless streak of 267 minutes.
Andrach has made 18 saves in four matches this season, recording two individual shutouts and a save percentage of .783 and rising.
Rutgers-Newark will look keep up its solid play this week when the Scarlet Raiders visit Mount Saint Mary College Wednesday and then open NJAC play Saturday at The College of New Jersey.
