POMONA, N.J. | The Scarlet Raiders women's volleyball squad suffered their third New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match tonight at the hands of Stockton University. Stockton University (18-2, 4-0) swept Rutgers University-Newark (11-8, 1-3), 3-0 (25-9, 25-11, 25-13).
The Scarlet Raiders kept it close in the early goings, however, the Ospreys went on an 8-1 run to push themselves out to a 17-7 lead that Rutgers University-Newark was unable to rebound from.
Reigning NJAC Rookie of the Week,
Alexa Rivera, led the team with 9 kills and added a pair of digs.
Analis Capobianco paved the way with eight digs while
Karly Gregoire tallied a team-high 17 assists.
The second set saw Stockton remain hot as they jumped out to a 14-2 lead. The Scarlet Raiders looked as if they were mounting a comeback late but had the door shut on them to fall 2-0 in the match.Â
Much like the second set, Stockton used a strong opening to secure the set early on to remain perfect within the NJAC.
Next up for the Scarlet Raiders is a non-conference match against Mount Saint Mary College at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 12 at 3:00 pm.
