Newark, NJ | The Scarlet Raiders hosted FDU-Florham in a non-conference match this afternoon at the Golden Dome Tennis Courts. FDU-Florham was able to knock off Rutgers-Newark, 6-3, to improve to 5-3 while the Scarlet Raiders dropped to 0-3 on the year.
On the doubles courts,
Vihang Patel and
Shridhar Amin kept it close but ultimately fell, 8-6. On the second court,
Richard Nguyen and
Veer Kachhiapatel were handed an 8-5 loss by the duo of Chris Fiorenza and JT Murray giving FDU-Florham a 2-0 lead. Â
Sebastian Narath and
Alan Yu struggled on court one and fell 8-2 which sent FDU-Florham into singles play leading 3-0.
Patel earned a win on court six with an 8-7 pro set victory to put a tally mark in Rutgers-Newark's column.
Shadman Munshi went the distance, 7-6, 3-6, 10-8 to double up for the Scarlet Raiders on the fifth court.
Narath also went the distance in the top slot against Rich Bennett. After falling in the opening set, Narath battled back to score another win for the Scarlet Raiders and give them their highest total of the season.
