Newark, NJ | Men's tennis have improved their score every outing this season but are still searching for that elusive first win as they dropped a close match against Albertus Magnus, 5-4.
The Scarlet Raiders looked good coming out of doubles play holding a 2-1 lead. The duo of
Sebastian Narath and
Alan Yu won a close, 8-7, match on court one which was followed up by a win on court two.
Richard Nguyen and
Vihang Patel produced the most lopsided doubles win of the afternoon as they defeated their opponents, 8-4.
Rutgers-Newark couldn't carry that momentum over into singles as Albertus Magnus made up for their losses in doubles. Patel and Nguyen were the only two Scarlet Raiders to win in singles play. Narath was shutout in the opening set and tried to push it a third but was shut down.
Shadman Munshi, like Narath, made a push at the end but it wasn't enough as he would ultimately fall.
The men's tennis team will return to action tomorrow when they travel to Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY for a non-conference match at 11:00 a.m.
