EWING, N.J. | The Scarlet Raiders women's soccer team took on The College of New Jersey this afternoon in their first New Jersey Athletic Conference action of the season. Rutgers University-Newark (5-4, 0-1) dropped their opening conference game, 6-0, to The College of New Jersey (6-1, 1-0).
The Scarlet Raiders were tested early and often as the Lions tallied five shots in the first 10 minutes of the game. Netminder
Heidi Paulson was called on just once during that flurry of shots as the other four went wide of their mark.
TCNJ found a kink in the Scarlet Raider armor in the 21st minute when Nina Carlson found Taylor Nolan in the center of the 18-yard box where she was able to beat Paulson for the game's first goal.
Unfortunately for the Scarlet Raiders, the Lions would open the flood gates in the second half and score five goals.
Rutgers University-Newark finished the game with two shots to 30 for The College of New Jersey.
The Scarlet Raiders return to action on Wednesday, September 25 when they take on St. Joseph's College - Brooklyn at 8:00 pm.
