UNION, N.J. | The Scarlet Raiders women's tennis team returned to action tonight and took on Kean University in New Jersey Athletic Conference action. Rutgers University-Newark (2-4, 1-3) came into this afternoon's match off of a 6-3 win over Brooklyn College. Kean University (6-3, 1-3) bounced back from a 7-2 loss to defeat the Scarlet Raiders, 9-0.
Sugandhi Yerram Reddy and
Bryanna Thaxton had a good battle on court one but ultimately fell 8-3 before
Sophia Raza and
Emely Conza fell 8-0 in the number two spot.Â
Down 3-0 heading into singles, Thaxton put up a fight on court one falling 6-4, 6-1. Yerram Reddy nearly gave the Scarlet Raiders a point after taking her match to three sets but falling 10-8 in the final. The Cougars would sweep the rest of the games to win their first NJAC match of the season.
Up next for the Scarlet Raiders is a match against Baruch College on their home court at 12:00 pm.Â
