NEWARK, N.J. |
Sabria Glasgow and
Ava Dul tallied eight goals between them as the Scarlet Raiders (1-2) powered past the Lightning of Lehman College (0-3), 12-0 tonight at Frederick Douglass Field.
It was sophomore midfielder
Jessica Moreno that broke the game open in the 21st minute.
Ana Silveira was able to slot Moreno through setting her up to blast her shot past Rebecca Gritz. It would take just five more minutes before the Scarlet Raiders scored again. This time it was freshman Dul getting in on the action, scoring the first of her three goals off a pass from
Hope Davis. Davis was able to dribble around a Lehman defender before sending Dul through towards goal.
Fellow freshman Glasgow opened up her scoring account this afternoon, scoring her first of five goals on the night when Dul found Glasgow open in the box for an easy goal. Glasgow's goal opened a flurry of three goals over two minutes. Dul and Glasgow would each collect their second in that span.
The next flurry of goals would put the Scarlet Raiders up 8-0 after scoring a trio in five minutes. Dul would collect her hattrick while Glasgow bumped her total up to four for the game with assists from H. Davis and Silveira.
Glasgow needed just eight minutes in the second half to pick up her fifth goal of the game to push the Scarlet Raiders up to 9-0 over the Lightning. After breaking down the Lightning defense just 50 seconds after Glasgow's fifth goal, Silveira tallied her first goal of the season off of a pass from Dul.
Jillian McCourt checked into the game in the 78th minute and by the 81st had a goal to her name.
Bailey Kellenberger beat her defender on the left flank and sent in a low cross that found McCourt wide open in the six. Kellenberger would cash in one minute later to cap off a 12 goal night for her team.
The Scarlet Raiders return to action on Saturday, September 7 when they travel to Washington, DC to participate in the DC classic.
