NEWARK, N.J. | The women's soccer team wrapped up the DC Classic this afternoon against Penn State Harrisburg. It was freshman
Tamia Howell giving the Scarlet Raiders the win to improve to 2-3 overall while Penn State Harrisburg dropped to 1-4.
The Lions and Scarlet Raiders went back-and-forth early on in the first half, but as the game went on the Scarlet Raiders began to take over. A pair of corner kicks by
Jessica Moreno nearly set the Scarlet Raiders up for a goal but they were unable to convert.
With just eight minutes to go
Deirdre Mackin,
Shayna Bohus, and Howell all fired shots at Hannah Williams but were pushed away and kept out of the net.
It wasn't until there was 14 minutes remaining in the game that
Jessica Moreno was able to connect with a streaking Howell who was able to tuck it underneath Williams for the games lone goal.
Both teams would record just one shot combined over the final moments of the game.
The Scarlet Raiders return to action on Wednesday, September 11 at 7:30 pm where they will host Sarah Lawrence College.
