Howell Scores As #RUNWSOC Draws Cabrini

RADNOR, PA | Tamia Howell scored her fifth goal of the season as Rutgers-Newark's women's soccer squad drew Cabrini this evening 1-1. With the draw, the Scarlet Raiders moved to 7-2-2 while Cabrini moved to 4-4-2.

The Scarlet Raiders edged Cabrini 10(8), to 5(3) in shots while Cabrini led in the corner kick category, 4-2. Sabria Glasgow paced the team with four shots, putting three of them on target while Gillian Reese made a pair of saves.

In the first stanza both teams struggled to find any offense as both teams combined for just four shots. The second half was where the Scarlet Raiders were able to unlock the code to Cabrini's defense.

Bailey Kellenberger threatened in the 58th minute but was stifled by Ashley Tutzauer. Just three minutes later, Kellenberger found an opening and passed the ball to Howell who was able to knock it into the goal to put the Scarlet Raiders up 1-0.

Their lead wouldn't last long, however, as Cabrini knotted the game up just two minutes later. In extra time, the Scarlet Raiders were the only team to find room to take a shot, both of which forced Tutzauer to make a save.

The Scarlet Raiders return to action on Saturday, October 9 where they will host Kean University for their first home game since September 25.
