#RUNWBB Drop Non-Conference Bout With CMSV

Riverdale, NY | Samiyah Horton put forth another solid night as the Scarlet Raiders dropped the House Divided Battle tonight against The College of Mount Saint Vincent, 70-64.

The Scarlet Raiders (1-2) were led by Horton's 19 points in the loss while Ebony Odom Barnes tallied a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Kellie Martinez played 17 minutes and added 11 points on 5-of-12 shooting with a team-high four steals.

The Dolphins (2-0) were led by Victoria Hanley's 19 points followed by Amber Been's 17. On the boards, Melanieann Broderick led the way with 11 rebounds.

In the opening stanza of play, the Scarlet Raiders and Dolphins battled as neither team was able to secure more than a four-point lead. Trailing by four in the first quarter with just 38 seconds remaining, Elisha India Cross cashed in from behind the arc to bring her team within one before the start of the second.

The second quarter was where things fell apart for the Scarlet Raiders as their offense went cold, scoring just eight points while CMSV added 15 to their tally.  Out of the half, their offensive struggles continued with just 11 points while the Dolphins registered their best quarter with 20 points.

Rutgers-Newark made a comeback attempt in the fourth, and erupted for 31 points, however, it was too late as they ran out of time.
