#RUNWSOC Advance In ECAC Championship Behind Ettayebi

MADISON, NJ | Leila Ettayebi converted a late penalty kick to advance the Scarlet Raiders in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). The Scarlet Raiders defeated FDU-Florham, 1-0, for the second time this season to take on Stockton in the Pod 1 Championship Game.

The Scarlet Raiders (10-5-3) took 10 shots, putting six on target, while FDU-Florham (12-8-2) took 15 and also put six on target. Katie McLaughlin made six saves in the win while Sabria Glasgow led the way with three shots.

Rutgers-Newark and the Devils went back-and-forth in the first half with neither team able to unlock the door to open the scoring. The lone goal of the game came in the 65th minute when Ettayebi converted a penalty kick to put her team on the board. The Scarlet Raiders then locked down their defense as the Devils were unable to put a shot on target for the entirety of the second half.

With the win, the Scarlet Raiders will head back to FDU-Florham tomorrow to take on Stockton University in a rematch from earlier in the year.
