The Scarlet Raiders quickly brushed aside the Mighty Macs, 3-0 in both sets. Rutgers University-Newark improved to 4-1, 3-1 CVC while Immaculata remained winless at 0-5, 0-4 CVC.

Defensively, Kumar and Andrew Zaleck topped the team with four digs each while Nicholas Arce-Cox did his damage at the net with three total blocks.

After jockeying for the lead in the opening set of the match, the Scarlet Raiders exploded for an 11-1 run to set them up for a 1-0 lead in the match. Kumar and Arce-Cox headlined that run with two and three kills, respectively. Immaculata tried to claw back into the game, however, the Scarlet Raiders continued to answer with points of their own before ending the game on a 7-0 run. As a team, the Scarlet Raiders hit .789 after committing zero attacking errors.

The Scarlet Raiders bested themselves by hitting .818 in the second set with 9 kills on 11 attacks and no attacking errors. Rutgers-Newark opened on an 8-2 run behind a pair of Tuohy service aces which was also aided by attacking errors by the Mighty Macs. That combo of attacking errors by Immaculata and the offensive firepower that the Scarlet Raiders possess led to the most lopsided victory of the match.

The Mighty Macs battled with the Scarlet Raiders for the early goings of the third set as the score was knotted 6-6. Rutgers-Newark answered with a 7-0 run to take the lead as Long tallied a pair of service aces during that stretch. With Immaculata stringing together a pair of points, Rutgers-Newark once again flexed their muscles and scored 9 unanswered to wrap up the match.

Match 2: #5 Rutgers University-Newark 3, Immaculata 0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-10)

Tuohy and Arce-Cox recorded the highest kill totals for the Scarlet Raiders in the second match, tallying seven and six, respectively. Travis Emenaker paced the way with 20 assists and a team-high six service aces while Long and Josh Dewitt were strong on the defensive side with five digs each. Daniel Quay made his living at the net and tallied three total blocks.

Rutgers-Newark kept their momentum from the opening match and opening the second match with a 7-1 run. Immaculata tried to find a foothold to climb back into the match from their deep deficit but the Scarlet Raiders slammed the door shut with yet another long, 6-0 run. The Mighty Macs didn't help their own cause as they aided another Scarlet Raiders run with several attacking errors.

It was a similar outcome in the second set as the Scarlet Raiders remained at the top of their craft and stretched out to a 13-5 lead. The Mighty Macs stole a few points from the Scarlet Raiders, however, Tuohy and Quay brought the play back over to Rutgers-Newark with kills assisted by Emenaker. With a healthy lead in hand, the Scarlet Raiders charged on to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Immaculata started off strong in what would be the final set of the day as they opened with a 4-2 lead over the Scarlet Raiders. As the match wore on the Mighty Macs remained in the lead, holding a slight 7-5 lead, until the Scarlet Raiders scored seven straight points to give them the 12-7 lead. Immaculata broke up the scoring spree only to allow the Scarlet Raiders to end the game on a 9-0 run.
