McLaughlin Heroics and Solid Defense Bolster Scarlet Raiders to a Third Straight Win

NEWARK, NJ | Key saves, solid defense and a timely goal lift the Scarlet Raiders women's soccer team past Wilkes University, 1-0. A third straight win marks the first time the Scarlet Raiders start the season 3-0 since 2014.

Also for a third straight game to start the season, the Scarlet Raiders kept their opponents off the scoresheet en route to another clean sheet. Tamia Howell got the scoring started early in the first half after a timely interception opened up the opportunity to score.

After conceding the first goal, the Colonels put the pressure on RUN, accumulating 16 shots throughout the game, with seven finding their mark.

Led by Camila Howard, Riley Haggerty and Faith Davis, the Scarlet Raider's defense gave up very little with key challenges and interceptions to cut the Colonels offensive ambitions short.

Freshman keeper Katie McLaughlin was brilliant in the afternoon, making seven saves, including a huge breakaway save with 10 minutes to go in the second half, securing another clean sheet for RUN.

Looking to add to the win streak, the women will return to action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Bryn Mawr, PA to take on Bryn Mawr College at 1:00 pm.
