BRYN MAWR, PA | The Rutgers University-Newark women's soccer kept their win streak alive this afternoon after freshman striker Sofia Milevski found the back of the net in the 1-0 win over Bryn Mawr. The women are now 4-0 to start the year for the first time in program history.
Alongside their win streak, the Scarlet Raiders have yet to allow a goal this season after holding Bryn Mawr scoreless. As a team, the Scarlet Raiders were extremely accurate, putting 11 of their 13 shots on target. Milevski found the back of the net off of a pass from Ana Silveira for her first of the season.Â
The Scarlet Raiders were active on the offensive end in the first half, tallying 9 of their 11 shots on target in the opening stanza. Grace Prieto was under duress throughout the first half and had to make five saves to prevent the Scarlet Raiders from taking a larger lead. Freshman netminder, Katie McLaughlin, earned her second shutout in her second collegiate start. McLaughlin once again made five saves in the win after she put on a clinic yesterday against Wilkes University.
After putting just two shots on target in the opening half, Bryn Mawr came out in the second and put eight shots towards goal. The defensive unit for the Scarlet Raiders held firm and earned their fourth shutout of the season.
The women will return to action on Wednesday, September 15 when they travel to Brooklyn, NY to take on Brooklyn College for their final tune up before the start of New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) action begins.
