Howell & Dul Score a Trio as #RUNWSOC Defeats Sarah Lawrence, 3-1

BRONXVILLE, NY | Tamia Howell and Ava Dul combined for three goals as the Scarlet Raiders moved to 6-1 on the year with the 3-1 win over Sarah Lawrence tonight.

Howell's brace came on four shots while Dul's goal also came on four shots. Minding the net was a split duty job this evening with Jasmin Erichsen and Gillian Reese each taking a shift. Abigail Mason and Leila Ettayebi also had chances to score this evening but saw their shot go wide of their mark.

Howell found the back of the net for the third time this season when Dul slotted a pass into the box for Howell to tuck home in the 25th minute. Sarah Lawrence wouldn't waste any time as just 30 seconds later they leveled the game to make it 1-1.

The game would remain tied into the half, however, the Scarlet Raiders came out in the second half stronger and took a 2-1 lead just one minute into the second stanza. Howell's fourth goal of the year came on yet another pass from Dul. Five minutes later, Howell would return the favor, finding Dul in the box to give the Scarlet Raiders an insurance goal they would carry to victory.

As a team, the Scarlet Raiders fired off 17 shots, putting 10 of them on target while holding the Gryphons to just seven shots with three of them on target.

Rutgers-Newark returns to action on Saturday, September 25 when they return to New Jersey Athletic Conference action against Rowan University at 7:30 pm in Newark, NJ.
