Haggerty Puts Two on Frame But #RUNWSOC Falls to #13 Montclair

MONTCLAIR, NJ | The Rutgers University-Newark women's soccer team dropped their third straight New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game in a row after falling 3-0 to #13 Montclair Wednesday evening. The loss drops the Scarlet Raiders to 6-8-1, 2-3 while the Red Hawks improve to 12-1, 4-1.

The Scarlet Raiders fell behind early against their NJAC opponents, Montclair, this evening on the road. 9 minutes into the game, Montclair's Aileen Cahill found the back of the net on a pass from Tara Lambert. Six minutes later, the Red Hawks struck again, this time from the penalty spot, as they were awarded a penalty kick after a foul in the box. Once again, it was Cahill who stepped up to beat Katie McLaughlin to double up their tally. 

At the half, Montclair held an 11-1 edge in shots putting 10 of their chances on target.

Montclair picked up where they left off in the first half and found their third marker of the game just three minutes into the second stanza. Cahill completed the hat-trick with a low shot into the left corner. The Scarlet Raiders' offensive engine started churning in the second half. After being held to one shot in the first, Rutgers-Newark tallied 10 shots in the second but were unable to beat Montclair's net minder.

The Scarlet Raiders return to action on Saturday, October 15 when they take on Rutgers-Camden at 7:30 pm.
