Shorthanded #RUNWSOC Draws Kean

UNION, NJ | In a crucial New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game, the Scarlet Raiders women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw to keep them in 6th place within the NJAC standings. Rutgers-Newark slides over to 7-8-3, 3-3-2 while Kean moves laterally to 5-5-6, 2-2-4.

Mariana Valencia put Julia Masucci to work early, putting, what would be, the Scarlet Raiders' lone shot on target in the game. In the 32nd minute the game would change as Rutgers-Newark would go down a player after Julia Nephew was issued a straight red card. Down a player, the Scarlet Raiders defense held the Cougars to just two shots in the remainder of the half with Katie McLaughlin making three saves in the half.

Out of the break, the Scarlet Raiders came out aggressive and nearly found the back of the net as they fired off a flurry of shots. Rutgers-Newark's defense remained stout as they held Kean without a shot on target the entire second half. Camila Howard and Ava Dul tried to open the scoring ledger in the final moments, however, both of their shots missed their mark as the buzzer would sound to end the game.
