Game Recap: Men's Volleyball | | Rutgers-Newark Athletic Communications

No. 7 Rutgers-Newark Topples Immaculata, 3-0

IMMACULATA, PA | No. 7 Rutgers-Newark men's volleyball toppled Immaculata, 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-15), in a Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) match on the road.

Rutgers-Newark (18-3, 6-0) was led by Daniel Quay who finished with 9 kills and three service aces. Elan Dorkhman tallied seven kills while Aidan Apito and Martin Chromulak added five kills each. Justin Tuohy and Antonio Rocchio split setting duties with 18 and 17 assists, respectively. Josh Ledesma shared the lead with Apito after tallying four service aces. 

Immaculata (6-12, 0-5) earned five kills from Garrett Pepper while Joe Martell paced the team with 16 assists. 

The Scarlet Raiders came out strong and quickly took a 10-2 lead over Immaculata. From there, the Scarlet Raiders kept their foot on the pedal and wrapped up the opening set on a 4-1 run with kills by Dorkhman, Eric Hollenbach, and Chromulak. 

Immaculata got off to a 4-2 start in the second set, however, Rutgers-Newark came roaring back with a 3-0 run to take a 5-4 lead. After Immaculata knotted the set up at five, Rutgers-Newark went on a 9-1 run to firmly grab hold of the lead. Immaculata made a run at the end but it was too little too late as Dorkhman secured a kill to put his team up 2-0 in the match. 

Rutgers-Newark closed out the match after using a 7-0 run in the third set to separate themselves from Immaculata and cruise to the win.
