Di Martino's Moonshot Propels the Scarlet Raiders to a 5-0 Win Over Drew

MADISON, NJAlex Di Martino recorded her first homerun of the season to lift the Scarlet Raiders over the Rangers of Drew University, 5-0. The second game of today's doubleheader was cancelled due to lightning. 

Jackie Lara (5-5) pitched a one-hitter with two strikeouts while Di Martino finished 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs in the with for the Scarlet Raiders (10-10). As a team, the Scarlet Raiders tallied 11 hits and played clean softball in the field with no errors. Riley Scuralli led the team with three hits, going 3-for-4 while Mia Lopez and Brianna Hernandez each added a pair of hits. 

Drew (18-9) was led by Perry at the plate who finished with the only hit for the Rangers. In the circle, Bradley (8-3) allowed eight hits and five runs in three innings of action.

The scoring for the Scarlet Raiders didn't come until the 6th inning when Michelle McMillan singled up the middle to bring home Eliana Cedeno. In the top of the 7th, Rutgers-Newark exploded for four runs to fully grab hold of the game. Lopez used an infield single to bring home Yexenia Osorio from third to get the scoring started before Di Martino's heroics brought in more runs. 

Di Martino hit a 3 RBI homer, the first of her career, to plate Scuralli and Lopez to put the Scarlet Raiders up 5-0. In the bottom of the 7th for Drew, Lara put them down in order to seal the game and bring the Scarlet Raiders to .500 on the year.

The Scarlet Raiders will travel to Union, NJ to take on Kean University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) doubleheader.
