Ettayebi Scores Her 5th Tally; Draws King's, 1-1

WILKES-BARRE, PA | Leila Ettayebi scored her 5th of the season as the Rutgers University-Newark women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against King's College this evening. 

The Scarlet Raiders tallied 14 shots on the night, with five of them finding their mark. It was King's College who found the first goal of the evening, scoring in the 39th minute. Liz Porto opened the scoring ledger on the game when Angelina Falcone slotted her a pass to beat Katie McLaughlin. 

Rutgers-Newark wouldn't sit idly as Ettayebi picked up her team-high 5th goal of the year two minutes later. Mariana Valencia found Ettayebi who knocked her shot past Tara Bender to even the score. 

In the second half, the Scarlet Raiders posted eight shots while holding King's to just four. Rutgers-Newark kept knocking at the door against King's, however, Porto was up for the task and repelled any shot that came her direction. With neither team able to find the game winner, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Scarlet Raiders return to action on Monday, September 19 when they host Sarah Lawrence College at 7:30 pm.
