Women's Volleyball Drops NJAC Match to Ramapo, 3-0

MAHWAH, NJ | The Rutgers University-Newark women's volleyball squad lost in its final New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) match of the season, 3-0 (25-7, 25-8, 25-21) to Ramapo College.

Rutgers-Newark (9-15, 1-7) tallied 9 kills in the match with Elvin Karakaya leading the way with three. Ramapo (21-1, 7-1) hit .397 as a squad with 33 kills.

With the set knotted up early on, Ramapo used a series of runs to topple the Scarlet Raiders in the opening set. The Roadrunners carried that momentum over to the second set where they continued to stifle the Scarlet Raiders' offense.

Rutgers-Newark got its offense going in the third and final set. The Scarlet Raiders held a lead halfway through the set but the Roadrunners used a 10-1 run to gain the lead. Rutgers-Newark was unable to make the comeback and force a fourth set.

Rutgers-Newark returns to action on Thursday, November 2 when they travel to close out their season against John Jay.
