Rodriguez Scores But Men's Soccer Falls to Lycoming, 2-1

WILLIAMSPORT, PA | Marlon Rodriguez scored for the Rutgers-Newark men's soccer squad this evening against Lycoming but ultimately fell 2-1 on the road.

Rutgers-Newark (1-3-1) tallied 10 shots and put four on target while Lycoming (2-2-2) recorded 11 with five on frame.

The Warriors wasted no time finding its first goal of the game as in the opening three minutes they held a 1-0 lead. Jaeden Asare received a cross and powered it into the center of the net. 10 minutes later the Scarlet Raiders would level the playing field when defender Rodriguez one-timed a loose ball into the net.

In the second half, the Scarlet Raiders and Warriors went back and forth with neither team able to break the deadlock until the 77th minute. Owen Magee pushed his team in front with the late goal and the Scarlet Raiders were unable to recover.

Rutgers-Newark returns to action on Saturday, September 16 when they travel to Virginia to take on Shenandoah.
