GALLOWAY, NJ - The Rutgers-Newark women's soccer team fell on the road to Stockton University tonight at G. Larry James Stadium. The home team mustered out four goals to blank the visitors and come away with the victory.
The Ospreys began the scoring for the night with a goal low and center that went between goalkeeper
Angela Amaya's legs to hit the back of the net.
The Raiders held the Ospreys at bay until Stockton scored in the 31st minute and again in the 36th minute to take a 3-0 lead heading into the break.
The second half saw the Raiders tame the Ospreys' offense giving up just one goal in the period coming in the 68th minute.
Leyla Ettayebi had four shots with two coming on goal to try and ignite the Rutgers-Newark offense. Seoane Oaxaca added three shots with two on goal.
Amaya recorded three saves in 78 minutes of play in the net. Jillian Jones played 18 minutes.
Logan Shaw led Stockton with two goals, while goalkeeper Megan Brady tallied eight saves.
Rutgers-Newark will celebrate Senior Day this Saturday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at Frederick Douglass Field. The senior class includes: Angela Amaya, Izzy Deltoro, Isabella Tabja, Seoane Oaxaca , Ashley Gonzalez, Ruby Hogue, Julia Iglesia, Karla Valencia, and Leila Ettayebi.
