                     NEWARK, NJ - The No. 3 Seed Rutgers-Newark men's soccer team has their eyes set on one thing right now - the ECAC Division III Men's Soccer Championship Game. The showdown is set for Saturday, Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. on the road at No. 1 Seed Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pa.
It will be the first time ever that the two soccer programs have faced each other.
Championship History
The Raiders first won the ECAC Championship in 2011 with a shootout victory over NJAC rival William Paterson University. After being tied at 1-1 through the extra periods, the Raiders won the shootout, 3-1. Goalkeeper Jonathan Frances was named the tournament Most Valuable Player.
In 2015, the Raiders finished the season with an overall record of 16-7-1 after defeating Manhattanville College, 3-0, in the championship game. Midfielder Carlos Castro was named the Tournament MVP.
Rutgers-Newark then went on to win the crown for the third time in school history in 2022. The Raiders defeated Penn State Behrend, 3-1, to bring the title back to Newark. Midfielder Joe Alba was named the Tournament MVP. They finished the season, 11-6-6.
