Women’s Soccer Play Out Scoreless Draw at Moravian

BETHLEHEM, PA | Rutgers-Newark (3-3-2) were unable to score, but they also kept Moravian (4-2-1) off the scoresheet, leaving the game as it started with a score of 0-0.

Moravian were in control for most of the first half - they had 6 shots and 6 corners before the Scarlet Raiders could find an attempt towards the net. That came in the form of a 35th minute Leila Ettayebi shot, and that was the only shot that Rutgers-Newark had in the first 45. The Greyhounds managed a shot an 2 more corners before the end of the half, and that would be all before the break.

The Scarlet Raiders found their feet in the second half, forcing 3 saves from Moravian goalkeeper Caitlyn Philips in the first 20 minutes. But Moravian continued to find their own opportunities - they out-shot Rutgers-Newark 13-6.

In the end, neither team could strike gold, and the game ended honors even.

Rutgers-Newark women's soccer play their last non-conference game on Wednesday, September 25th. They face off against The City College of New York at 6:00 pm on Frederick Douglass Field.
