Women’s Basketball Falls to Montclair State at Home

NEWARK, NJ - Rutgers-Newark women's basketball hosted Montclair State in game one of Saturday afternoon doubleheader. The Raiders fell to the visiting team 68-31 at the Golden Dome.

The Raiders went 3-for-12 from the field in the first quarter falling behind early to a Montclair State squad that produced 21 points and held Rutgers-Newark to seven points in the opening quarter. 

After trading baskets for the first-five minutes, Montclair State went on a 10–0 run to take a 37–13 with 2:34 left in the first half and an eventual 44-16 halftime advantage. 

The Raiders continued to struggle from the floor as they were only able to gather 15 points over the next two quarters compared to Montclair State's 24 points. 

Rutgers-Newark (3-15, 0-11 NJAC) was led in scoring by Tracey Ilderis who had 10 points and nine rebounds.

For Montclair State (15-3, 9-2 NJAC) they were led by Alexis Strollo who had 17 points and six rebounds.

The Raiders travel to NJCU on Jan. 29 for game one of the doubleheader with the men beginning at 5:30p.m.
