Glassboro, NJ — Rutgers-Newark women's volleyball dropped a straight-sets decision to Rowan University on Tuesday night, falling 3–0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-19) inside Esby Gym.
Rowan came out strong from the opening serve, taking control of the first set with a fast-paced attack that limited the Scarlet Raiders' offensive rhythm. The Profs carried that momentum into the second set, capitalizing on consistent serves and quick transitions to go up two sets to none.
Rutgers-Newark showed resilience in the third set, keeping things closer and putting together several solid rallies, but Rowan's depth proved too much to overcome. Mia Espinoza led the Scarlet Raiders with four kills, while Shayla Moody-Santos contributed three blocks at the net.
Despite the defeat, Rutgers-Newark displayed flashes of strong play late in the match. The Scarlet Raiders move to 8–19 overall and 1–6 in NJAC play, while Rowan improves to 22–5 and 6–1 in the conference. Rutgers-Newark will look to regroup as the team prepares for a tri-match at FDU-Florham on Saturday.
